Not every project is on the doorstep, and not every project needs to be. Buildingwise Certifiers recently issued a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) for an industrial storage shed and workshop in Kempsey on the NSW Mid North Coast, working alongside local builders the Tolman Building Group.

A Complying Development Certificate is one of the faster approval pathways available under NSW planning legislation. Where a project meets the relevant predetermined standards, a CDC can be issued by a private certifier covering both planning and building approval in a single process. For eligible industrial works, it is often the most efficient route from plans to approval.

Inspections were booked with plenty of notice, the work was carried out to a good standard, and the project moved along without unnecessary delays. There was also an added bonus on this one. The site sits directly next door to the Akubra factory, home of the iconic Australian-made hat that has been manufactured in Kempsey since 1932. Kurt came home from one of the inspections with a new hat. Not a bad outcome.
